Takeaway EPOS system with your own online ordering
A takeaway EPOS takes counter, phone and online orders, prints the kitchen ticket, adds the delivery charge for the customer’s area and cashes up your drivers at the end of the night. Pixel & Oak POS does that on the Windows PC on your counter, offline if the broadband drops, with your own ordering website that charges no commission, so fewer orders go through apps that take 14–35%.

UK early access
The till and the receipts show prices in Pakistani rupees today. Pounds, prices with VAT included, UK time and UK phone numbers come with the UK edition. You can see a full demo now and join early access: we set up the first UK takeaways ourselves, at the launch price.
What a takeaway till has to do on a Friday night
The jobs a takeaway EPOS is judged on, and how Pixel & Oak POS handles each one.
-
Counter, phone and online orders
Takeaway and delivery in one tap. Phone orders find a regular by their number, with saved addresses and past orders, and website orders arrive on their own.
-
Kitchen tickets
Every choice and note, allergy notes included, printed for the kitchen as the order is sent.
-
Delivery zones and charges
Your own zones — streets, areas or postcode districts — each with its own delivery charge, added when the zone is picked.
-
Drivers and cash-up
Assign your own or an outside driver; the till tracks the cash each one is carrying and settles it when they are back.
-
Card payments
Use the card machine you already have. The cashier records the card amount and the receipt shows it; there is no processing contract with us.
-
Meal deals and offers
Meal deals, Buy 1 Get 1 and automatic offers, with a manager PIN above the discount limit you set.
-
End-of-night cash-up
Count the drawer note by note; the till adds it up, flags unpaid orders and prints the shift report.
-
When the broadband drops
Orders, tickets, receipts and the drawer keep working; website orders and backups catch up when the line is back.
Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats: what the commission costs you
Type your own numbers. Commission is charged on the whole order, so it adds up faster than it looks.
VAT on takeaway food, briefly
In the UK, hot takeaway food is standard-rated for VAT at 20%, while most cold takeaway food is zero-rated, with exceptions such as soft drinks, crisps and confectionery. So a takeaway EPOS needs a tax rate on each item, not one rate for the whole bill.
Pixel & Oak POS already sets the tax rate per item, under names you choose, but today it adds tax on top of the price. Prices with VAT included, as UK menus show them, and receipts laid out for UK VAT come with the UK edition. Your accountant has the final word on your menu.
Five questions to ask before you choose a takeaway EPOS
Does it take a cut of my card sales?
Many EPOS deals come with a card-processing contract. Pixel & Oak POS never touches your card payments: keep your own card machine.
Is online ordering included or extra?
Online ordering is often a paid add-on or a fee per order. Ours is included from the Pro plan, with 0% commission.
What happens when the broadband drops?
A till that lives in the cloud can stall. Ours runs on the counter PC, so orders, tickets and cash-up keep going.
How long is the contract?
Some EPOS deals run for years. Ours is month to month.
Who keeps the customer list?
Delivery apps keep your customers. With your own website, names, numbers and addresses stay in your till.
Why a till built in Karachi suits a British takeaway
Pixel & Oak POS was built at a pizza and burger delivery restaurant in Karachi that works a lot like a British takeaway: a busy counter, phone orders from regulars, its own drivers out until late, cash and card, and delivery apps alongside its own website.
The UK edition adds what is different in Britain — pounds, VAT shown your way on receipts and UK phone numbers — on top of a till that already handles the night-time rush. Read how the ordering website and delivery screens work.

Questions takeaway owners ask
What is the best EPOS system for a takeaway?
One that takes counter, phone and online orders in the same place, prints clear kitchen tickets, runs delivery zones and driver cash-up, keeps working when the broadband drops, and takes no percentage of your card or online sales. Pixel & Oak POS is built around exactly those jobs; its UK edition is in early access.
How much does a takeaway EPOS system cost?
UK EPOS deals range from free software tied to a card-processing contract to monthly plans with hardware on top. Pixel & Oak POS is $15 a month for one till, $29 with your own commission-free ordering website and $69 with marketing done for you, month to month, with no processing contract.
Is Pixel & Oak POS available in the UK now?
In early access. The till runs every day at a restaurant in Karachi and shows prices in Pakistani rupees; pounds, UK VAT receipts and UK phone numbers come with the UK edition. Join early access for a full demo, and we will set up the first UK takeaways ourselves at the launch price.
Does it work with Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats?
Not directly yet: orders from the apps stay on their own tablets for now, and bringing them straight into the till is on the roadmap. Your own ordering website, which charges no commission, is built in.
Can I keep my card machine?
Yes. Card payments stay on your own card machine and with your own provider; the till records the amount for the receipt and the reports, and we never take a cut.
Does it work if the broadband goes down?
Yes. Orders, kitchen tickets, receipts, the cash drawer and cash-up all run on the counter PC. Website orders and backups catch up when the connection is back.
Do I need new hardware?
Usually not: a Windows 10 or 11 PC or laptop, an 80 mm thermal receipt printer and a cash drawer that plugs into the printer. Add a second printer for the kitchen if you like.
Can customers order online without commission?
Yes. On the Pro plan you get your own ordering website for collection and delivery, with 0% commission and no order limit. Orders print in your kitchen automatically.
