Ecommerce Development That Fixes the Checkout, Not Just the Homepage

Most ecommerce work we are asked for is a redesign, and most of the money is actually lost somewhere else: a checkout with too many steps, product pages missing the one detail people need, or a site that takes six seconds on a phone.

We start where the money leaks. Sometimes that means a rebuild. Often it means fixing the three specific points where people give up.

This is for you if

  • You are launching a store and want it built properly the first time
  • Traffic is fine but the checkout leaks customers
  • Your catalogue outgrew the way the store was originally set up
  • You are moving platform and cannot afford to lose rankings

This is probably not for you if

  • You are testing whether anyone wants the product at all — start on a stock Shopify theme and find out cheaply

We would rather tell you now than take the project and disappoint you.

Worth knowing: Platform choice matters less than people expect, and switching platforms rarely fixes a conversion problem — it just moves it. Shopify suits most stores. WooCommerce suits content-heavy sites already on WordPress. Custom is justified when your fulfilment or pricing logic genuinely does not fit either.

What you get

Product architecture

Categories, variants, and filters organised around how customers search rather than how your spreadsheet is arranged.

Checkout optimisation

Fewer steps, guest checkout, visible shipping costs, and the payment methods your customers expect.

Performance for real catalogues

A store with 2,000 products behaves differently from one with 20. Built for the size you are heading to.

Platform migrations

With redirect mapping so you keep the rankings and links you already earned.

Ecommerce SEO

Product and category pages structured to rank, with Product and Review schema for rich results.

Integrations

Inventory, shipping, accounting, email, and reviews connected so orders do not need re-typing.

What we build it with

Deliberately mainstream choices. You should be able to hand this to any competent developer later without them needing to learn something exotic first.

Front end

Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS

Back end

Node.js, Next.js API routes, Cloudflare Workers

Database

Postgres, Supabase, Cloudflare D1 and KV

CMS

Sanity, Payload, headless WordPress, or plain Markdown

Payments

Stripe, Shopify, WooCommerce

AI

OpenAI, Anthropic, and open models where they fit better

How it works

1

Find the leak

Analytics and checkout funnel review before any design work. Sometimes the fix is far cheaper than the rebuild you asked for.

2

Fixed quote

Priced per phase so you can start with the highest-impact fix.

3

Build on staging

Tested with real products and real test orders end to end.

4

Launch and watch

Monitoring the funnel after launch, because that is when you learn what actually changed.

Recent work

Real sites, not mockups. Every one is live and you can go and look at it.

Questions

How much does an ecommerce site cost?

A well-built Shopify store typically runs $5,000–$15,000 depending on catalogue size and integrations. Custom builds start higher. If your budget is below that, a stock theme configured properly is a genuinely reasonable start — not a compromise you should be embarrassed about.

Shopify or WooCommerce?

Shopify for most stores: hosting, security, and payments are handled and updates will not break your checkout. WooCommerce if you are already on WordPress with substantial content and want everything in one place — accepting that you now own the maintenance.

Will migrating platforms hurt my rankings?

It can, badly, without redirect mapping. Every product and category URL needs a mapped destination. Budget for migration SEO — recovering lost rankings costs far more than protecting them.

Can you improve conversion without a redesign?

Frequently, and it is usually where we suggest starting. Checkout steps, shipping transparency, product page content, and mobile speed typically move the number more than a new look.
